EDGE CONFIG LAB · v0.9.30 · PARKED VEHICLE TEST

Independent FORScan module comparison

Purpose: clarify whether DDM and PDM can be read by FORScan on this particular 2021 Ford Edge ST. This is a read-only inventory collection—not a programming, fault-diagnosis, or ECU repair procedure.

Safety: Park safely, apply the parking brake and ensure suitable battery power. Never operate the laptop while driving. Do not clear faults, change As-Built, run service functions, or type arbitrary CAN/UDS commands. If engine running is needed, remain outdoors, not in an enclosed garage.

1 · Before connecting

  1. Close Edge Config Lab's Web Serial connection using its Disconnect button. Only one program should control the MX+ at a time.
  2. Connect FORScan to the OBDLink MX+ using its supported adapter setup, with the vehicle stationary and power stable.
  3. If FORScan asks to create or use a saved vehicle profile, proceed with its normal read-only vehicle identification process.
  4. Do not initiate module programming, tests that actuate hardware, DTC clearing, or manual CAN commands.

2 · Capture the module inventory

  1. In FORScan, open the vehicle/module information list after normal vehicle identification.
  2. Take screenshots showing BCM / BdyCM, DDM and PDM. Include their reported network labels if shown.
  3. Open each DDM/PDM identification detail if FORScan provides one; note only non-sensitive module hardware/software identifiers.
  4. If FORScan itself shows diagnostic request/response addresses or gateway/DIAG routes, record exactly what it shows. If not visible, write Not shown, rather than guessing.
  5. Cover VIN, account details and other unique identifiers before sharing screenshots.

3 · Compare with Edge Config Lab evidence

Known app results from the prior live session: BCM ID verified via candidate HS-CAN request; DDM and PDM returned no verified reply after selecting adapter STP 53. IPC and APIM were intentionally skipped.

Do not treat STP 53 as proof of direct MS-CAN module reachability. Ford's service-network description for the 2021 Edge describes the gateway module (GWM) mediating diagnostic access between the DLC and other CAN networks. OBDLink documentation describes STP 53 as a medium-speed CAN adapter preset—not a route through the vehicle's gateway.

Technical status details can be exported from Edge Config Lab via “Download privacy-safe comparison packet.” This contains fixed candidate CAN IDs and sanitized outcomes only; no VIN, raw diagnostic frames or unique IDs.

4 · Finish

  1. Disconnect FORScan normally.
  2. Do not repeat the DDM/PDM Edge Config Lab probe in this session; the next request strategy should be determined after reviewing the FORScan evidence.
  3. Share the redacted module-list screenshot and module information (or “Not shown”) in the Edge Config Lab project chat.
