Edge Config Lab · File guide · v0.9.17
What are all these downloaded files?
Think of a backup as a saved copy of settings before you change anything. In this release, Edge Config Lab can inspect and compare imported copies, but it does not read, write or restore vehicle configurations.
Choose the right file
Original As-Built data obtained from a trusted source or diagnostic tool. Keep the original filename and an untouched copy. Import a copy into Config Vault to inspect; importing does not validate completeness or compatibility.
Contains the configuration records you imported into this app. Reopen using Config Vault → Reopen private archive. It may contain sensitive raw configuration bytes. Not a Ford/FORScan restore file.
File counts and module group counts, without raw configuration rows, names, or VIN. Useful for describing what files are loaded. Review before sharing.
Spreadsheet showing which saved configuration rows are changed, added, removed or unchanged. Open it in Excel or a spreadsheet app. Not an importable configuration.
Evidence of connection tests, sensor responses, adapter channels or module checks. They are reports of what happened, not copies of module configuration settings.
Recorded sensor values and timestamps. Open in a spreadsheet to review trends. It does not contain a module backup.
Vehicle profiles and preferences entered into Edge Config Lab. Re-import into Garage. Not settings retrieved from your car's modules.
Keeps data within this browser profile on this device. Clearing site data or switching devices can erase it. Also download a copy and store it somewhere you control.
How to save a safe copy
1. Use a validated tool to save an original compatible .AB/.ABT file when supported. 2. Preserve that original unchanged outside the browser. 3. Import a copy into Config Vault only for offline inspection and comparison. 4. Download the private archive if you want to reopen those imported records in Edge Config Lab later.
Edge Config Lab exports are not vehicle-restoration files. A SHA-256 fingerprint helps detect changes to file contents but does not prove that the source is genuine, complete, compatible, or safe to write. Do not upload private archives publicly or attempt module programming based on simulated examples.
Where did my file go?
Usually your browser saves it to Downloads or asks where to save it. Your app's local exports are not automatically uploaded to a cloud account. You can open a .csv in Excel; .json is a structured file best reopened through the corresponding Edge Config Lab Import button or inspected in a text viewer.
